LET’S MOVE FOR VENEZUELA
Venezuela is more than the land we come from; it is the love we carry, the strength we inherit, and the hope we refuse to lose. Wherever life takes us, we carry our roots with us, and when we come together, we remind each other that no distance can separate us from who we are.
There is a saying: “It’s not about who has; it’s about who wants to give.”
And today was a beautiful example of that.
One of the things that makes Venezuelan culture so special is our spirit of being echados pa’lante — we keep going, we find a way, and we do what we do with heart. Today, Let’s Move for Venezuela was another beautiful example of that spirit.
After the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela in the middle of June, leaving families without homes and others grieving the loss of loved ones, we wanted to do something — no matter how small — to show that we care.
Today, we came together. We moved our bodies, we shared, we laughed, we connected, and most importantly, we gave.
We witnessed the warm hearts of the British community, with so many people and independent businesses generously donating raffle prizes. And we saw the giving hands of Venezuelans coming together to support their people from thousands of miles away.
This is what community looks like. This is what solidarity feels like.
Thank you to @activedorset for allowing us to bring this event to life, and thank you to every single person who came, donated, volunteered, shared, moved, danced, practised yoga, bought a raffle ticket, contributed a prize, or simply showed up.
Today, you helped us raise £2,556 for Venezuela.
More than the money, you helped remind us that when people come together with love, generosity and purpose, we can make a difference.
