RETURNING TO OUR NATURAL STATE
One of the beautiful teachings in yoga philosophy is the concept of returning to our true nature.
In Sanskrit, Prakriti refers to the natural world—the ever-changing rhythms of life that we see in the seasons, the tides, the weather, and the cycles of growth and rest. Nature doesn’t rush. It doesn’t compare. It doesn’t strive to be anything other than what it is.
Yet many of us spend our days disconnected from these natural rhythms. We rush from one task to the next, constantly stimulated by screens, notifications, and endless to-do lists. Over time, we can begin to feel disconnected not only from nature, but from ourselves.
Yoga invites us to pause and remember.
The practice isn’t about becoming someone different. It is about peeling away the layers of stress, expectation, and busyness so we can reconnect with who we already are beneath it all.
When we spend time in nature, this process often happens naturally. A walk through the woods, the sound of birdsong, the feeling of grass beneath our feet—these simple experiences bring us back into the present moment. They remind us that we are part of nature, not separate from it.
This month, I invite you to reflect:
Where in your life could you stop pushing and start flowing?
What would it feel like to return to your own natural rhythm?
Perhaps the answer begins with a single conscious breath, a few moments outdoors, or simply giving yourself permission to slow down.
Nature is always there, patiently waiting to welcome us home.
